Crete voters chose to keep incumbent Jack Oelschlager in office for another four years in Tuesday’s hotly-contested Ward III City Council race.
Oelschlager beat challenger and former Crete News Editor Linda Dageforde by a tidy margin, 329-250. Serving on the council since 1998, Oelschlager said he was thankful to the community for asking him to serve another term.
“I’m glad to be able to continue working towards the betterment of the city,” Oelschlager said. “We’re going to continue working to make the city of Crete a great place to live. We’re going to work on the city web page, on making the information coming from City Hall more open and available, and make it friendlier for people to get that information. We’ll continue to strive on making our ends meet, getting financials back in order and improve the quality of Crete.”

Russwood Jeep Dodge of Crete announced it will relocate its staff to the company’s Chrysler dealership located at 84th and O streets in Lincoln in a press release. The move is scheduled for Nov. 22. The move means the former Mardock Motors building will sit vacant, as Russwood leases the space. It will also mean an end to the company’s offering of Dodge and Jeep, as franchise rules prohibit them from relocating the brands to Lincoln. Russwood took over for Mardock Motors in 2004.
