Election filing deadlines have passed and revealed a few contested races in Crete and throughout the county.

In the Crete race for Mayor, incumbent Tom Crisman has re-filed and current Ward 1 council member, Roger Foster has filed his intention to seek the office of mayor.

Foster announced his intentions to run for the office in November, well before the March 1 filing deadline.

Foster’s council seat is open and former member Travis Sears has filed for the position in Ward 1. Incumbents Tom Busboom and Chuck Vyhnalek are both running again for Ward 2 and 3 respectively. No new candidates filed for either office.

Three incumbents re-filed for the Crete Board of Education, Bill Lorenz, Dennis Isernhagen and Laura Ebke. No new candidates filed.

Incumbents Richard Jiskra, and Willis Luedke have re-filed for their seats as Saline County Commissioners. Jiskra, who was appointed to the vacancy in October, will face Douglas Francis in a District 1 race while Luedke’s opponent is Albert Hayek in District 2.

In the Friend School Board race, Paul Segner will run unopposed to complete a two-year term and not appear on the primary ballot in May. Incumbents Richard Dickinson, Jack Hoffman and Brian Himmelberg will appear in the primary and run for three spots against Tom Due, Nathan Klenke, Scott Spohn and Wendell Roth, who are all seeking four-year terms.

In the Friend Mayoral race, incumbent James Vossler will face Cara Potter.

Incumbents Wayne Milton and Gary Tuttle re-filed for the Warren Memorial Hospital District with new candidate Ron Corbett. Two spots are open.

On the Wilber School Board ballot are incumbents Robert Sykes, David Houser and Scott Havel with new filings from Douglas Duba, Gary Wooten and Tim Riechers.

Roger Chrans re-filed for Wilber Mayor with no new candidates. Incumbent council members Michael Hroch and Randy Sasek re-filed for member-at-large. They will run for two spots against new candidate Mitch Novak.

Incumbents re-filing with no new candidates are:

Saline County: Clerk, Linda Kastanek; Treasurer, Debbie Spanyers; Assessor, Brandi Kelly; Clerk of District Court, Joyce Wusk; Attorney, Tad Eickman; Sheriff, Alan Moore; Surveyor, Les Siedschlag;

Crete Airport Authority: Ardell Friesen and Preston Meints;

Friend City Council: Ward 1, Dan Drake; Ward 2, Dale Lawver;

Dorchester School Board: Matthew Hansen.
