| Tigers sign first group of grid recruits |

The Doane College football program announced four high school seniors and four college transfers last Wednesday in the first group of what is expected to be 50 total recruits for its 2010 class. College transfers include Wayne State wide receiver Tyler Davis, Nebraska-Kearney defensive back Lance Shifflet, Northwest Missouri State quarterback Jesse Ver Velde and linebacker Brady Roeder, who attended Nebraska-Lincoln but was not a part of the Husker football program. High school senior recruits on the list included offensive lineman Dillon Carmichael, Loomis; wide receiver Devin Cole, Ralston Valley High School (Colo.); wide receiver Sam Housh of Lincoln North Star and wide receiver Tanner Whiting of Valley Heights High School (Kan.).
