School Board reorganizes for new year PDF Print E-mail

The Crete Board of Education held their annual meeting in conjunction with their regular meeting on Thursday, Jan. 7.

  The annual meeting consists of an adjournment of the board while they reorganize and elect officers and officials for the coming year.

Elected by the board to serve as president and vice president again were  board members Matt Hanson and Bill Lorenz, respectively. Elected secretary was member Laura Ebke and Sandy Rosenboom, district business manager, was appointed assistant secretary. Lynette Allen was again appointed District Treasurer.

By board appointment, Kelley Baker, of the Lincoln firm, Harding Schultz and Downs is the district’s legal council while Dana Cole and Company acts as auditor. 

The board has five standing committees with the following board members assigned: Transportation, Building and Grounds – Lorenz, Tom King and Thad Sears; Americanism and Curriculum – King, Ebke and Dennis Isernhagen; Interim Study and Negotiations -  Hanson, Edke and Lorenz; Finance – Sears, Hanson and Ebke; Personnel – Ebke, Sears and Insernhagen.

Other items under the board’s reorganization are the listing of district depositories, newspaper and meeting times. The Crete School District carries accounts and funds at three local banks, Pinnacle Bank, City Bank and Trust Company and Union Bank. 

School and district information, including public notices and the publication of the budget will once again be published in The Crete News. The times will change for regular board meetings from 6:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Regular meetings are held on the second Monday of each month except the annual meeting in January.

The board also:

- Heard a report from Superintendent Kyle McGowan on the building project at the Middle School and the recent revisions in the construction schedule.

- Accepted the certified staff resignation from Jenn Odvody from her position as special education teacher with Crete Elementary, affective at the end of the academic year.

- Approved a local substitute certificate for Jon Beiermann
